Rabanus Maurus

9th centuryTeacher of the Church

The Church of the nations, guided by the teachings of the holy leaders, was resolute in protecting her heritage and her people. After being cleansed by baptism from all sinful impurity and the defilement of idolatry, she could no longer bear the disgrace of her past iniquity. The Lord instructed her, saying through the prophet, "Hear, daughter, and see, and incline thine ear; forget thy people and thy father's house. And the King shall desire thy beauty; for He is thy Lord" (Psalm 44:11-12).
