Cyrill of Alexandria

The eventual acceptance of Christ by the Jewish synagogue from the Gentile Church can be likened to a child received by his mother from Pharaoh's daughter. Just as this child was embraced despite the circumstances, so too will the synagogue, which once denied and rejected Jesus through its lack of faith, ultimately welcome Him in the final days, being subtly directed by the voice of the Church.

Gregory of Nyssa

4th centuryChurch Father

When the tsarevna beheld the beauty of the child, he instantly captured her affection, leading her to choose him over her own son. However, due to an innate dislike for the foreign breast, he was nourished at his mother's breast, as desired by one of his kin.

Vissarion (Nechaev)

19th centuryCommentator

The future savior of his people returned to his mother, where through her nurturing, he absorbed a profound love for his people and for the One who appointed him for the significant mission ahead. This nurturing continued among the Hebrews until he reached the age of three (2 Macc. 7:27). The spiritual seeds sown in Moses' soul during this formative period could not be overshadowed by his later life in the court, for God's special Providence ensured their growth. Moses’ mother, who took on the role of his nurse and protector, no longer felt anxious for his safety, as she likely received a steadfast assurance of his protection from the princess.
