The typical peace-offering could be consumed in any pure location, and leavened bread was permitted (Lev. v⁴⁰; II, 13). However, in this case, the offering was designated solely for the priests to partake of at the entrance of the tabernacle, accompanied by unleavened bread (see verse 2), while any leftover portions were to be incinerated, as it is holy. It is noteworthy that the priests were also the only ones permitted to consume the flesh of the sin-offering, which is referred to as ‘the great holy thing’ (Leviticus V⁴⁰; II, 6).
