Theodoret of Cyrus

5th centuryChurch Father

God declares that all of His supporters surrounding Him, along with those who intercede on His behalf, will be cast away like chaff in the wind, and I will pursue them with a sword. They will recognize that I am the Lord when I disperse them among the nations and scatter them abroad. Those who evade death in battle will be taken captive, becoming exiles and wanderers, so they may understand that idols are feeble and have no strength, and that I am the Sovereign Lord.
