Theodoret of Cyrus

5th centuryChurch Father

God declares that all those who aid Him and all who intercede on His behalf will be dispersed in every direction, and He will unleash a sword to pursue them. They will recognize that He is the Lord when He scatters them among the nations, spreading them far and wide. Those who survive the conflict will be taken away as captives; they will become wanderers and exiles. This will lead them to understand the futility and impotence of idols, affirming that He is the Sovereign Lord and Master.
