The Prophet spoke about Zedekiah, and his words were fulfilled six years earlier. When Nebuchadnezzar entered into an agreement with Zedekiah, he demanded the most severe promises from him to uphold the covenant; however, Zedekiah soon violated those promises. The Prophet declared that upon appointing him as king, Nebuchadnezzar would seize those who were wealthy and influential. The fourth book of Kings, second Chronicles, and the revered Prophet Jeremiah provide accounts of these events. The Prophet further states that the king of Babylon intends to weaken the kingdom, ensuring its perpetual subservience and preventing any opportunity for insurrection.
