Jerome of Stridon
The Lord spoke to me, saying, Son of man, direct your gaze toward Sidon and deliver a prophecy concerning it. Proclaim, Thus says the Lord God, I am against you, Sidon, and I will bring glory to myself in you, and they will recognize that I am the Lord when I bring judgment upon you and reveal my holiness in your midst. I will bring pestilence and bloodshed upon your streets, and many will fall slain by the sword on every side, and they will know that I am the Lord. The house of Israel will no longer face trials from their neighbors who oppress them, and they will know that I am the Lord God. Thus says the Lord God, When I gather the house of Israel from the nations among which they have been scattered, I will show my holiness through them in the sight of the nations.

In the Gospel, Sidon is mentioned alongside Tyre, indicating their shared significance, as seen in Matthew 11:21, where the powers of these cities are noted. Consequently, the Canaanite woman, whose daughter was tormented by a demon, left the borders of Tyre and Sidon and received the request she made in Matthew 15.
