And shalt say: Thus saith the Lord God: Behold I come against thee, Sidon, and I will be glorified in the midst of thee: and they shall know that I am the Lord, when I shall execute judgments in her, and shall be sanctified in her.

I am against you, Sidon, because you have also ridiculed the people of Israel. I will be exalted through you; in other words, I will receive glory from others for the discipline I will bring upon you.

Theodoret of Cyrus

5th centuryChurch Father

Since you have not sought Me in your abundance, O Sidon, declares the Lord, I will bring upon you numerous and diverse misfortunes, famine, and assaults from adversaries, so that through these tribulations you may recognize My sovereignty. He also reveals the reasons for your downfall.
