The Church Fathers on this verse

One Church Father comments on this verse

Theodoret of Cyrus

5th centuryChurch Father

They will recognize that I am the Lord their God when I manifest myself among the nations. By my divine guidance, they will be freed from the rule of the Babylonians and will witness the downfall of the Scythian nations. I will bring them back to their homeland and will not abandon them there. This was entirely accomplished through God's watchful provision; however, those who had grown used to defying God's commandments were reluctant to return, and many chose to remain in a foreign land rather than come back to their own.
