The Church Fathers on this verse

One Church Father comments on this verse

Theodoret of Cyrus

5th centuryChurch Father

I will set ablaze Gog, and the distant lands shall dwell in tranquility, and they shall be taken away for My name is the Lord. The distant shores shall be removed in peace, for My name is the Lord. My sacred name will be revealed among Israel, and it will not be dishonored. Moreover, the reason is made clear: the nations will be taken away, acknowledging that I am the Holy Lord among Israel. When the peoples recognize the might of My providence and see that I protect those called by My name, they will cease to consider Me impotent and will reject the notion that the past exile of My people stemmed from My inability. Then He emphasizes the constancy of His declarations.
