The dishes represent shallow bowls, symbolizing the purity found in the hearts of unsophisticated individuals who lack the ability to hide their dishonest thoughts and instead communicate openly what they truly feel. The knives serve the purpose of slicing and dividing the offerings into proper portions, ensuring that after the sacrificial preparations, some is consumed by fire upon the altar, while others are given to the priests and Levites who perform the offering. These knives symbolize those within the Church endowed with the gift of discernment, who have the ability to recognize the true offering of salvation—namely, Christ. The chalices, or drinking vessels, represent those who are often filled with the fervent love that burns within them.
