The offspring of the Canaanite woman is noteworthy, as it is customary for the descendants of Jacob to marry from the lineage of Abraham or Pharrinus. The sons of Simeon, among others, demonstrate this tradition. It is also significant to observe the discrepancies in names when compared to the genealogical listings found in the book of Chronicles (1 Chronicles 4:24). To address such inconsistencies, one might consider that later records may have omitted certain names that became irrelevant due to the diminished significance of a tribe over time. Additionally, pronunciation can evolve, leading to variations in names.

It is not uncommon for the same individuals to be known by different names, since the Jewish people often had a name of birth as well as an additional name reflecting a characteristic, action, or significant experience, as seen with Jacob and Israel, Esau and Edom, or Gideon and Jerobaal. Furthermore, the Jewish tradition sometimes conflates sons and grandsons under the general term "sons," which may result from the inherent ambiguities within their language and the principles of adoption (Gen. 46:21).
