I will humble the arrogance of Judah and the haughtiness of Jerusalem, and the excessive pride of these unrighteous individuals. They refuse to listen to My words, choosing instead to walk with integrity only in their own hearts while pursuing the paths of foreign deities to serve and worship them. They will be like the unfit loins of a man. This speaks to the exile in Babylon, where the Euphrates River divides the city into two sections. There, at the Euphrates, God instructed him to conceal his loins in a crevice of stone. The prophet refers to it as Babylon.

In that place, the people of Judah found themselves in a state of utter dependence, despite being identified as the Lord's chosen, lacking governance over their own lives, failing to adhere to divine service as prescribed by the law, and being as useless as that slumped loincloth. The subsequent words clarify the necessity of the loinslayer.
