The Lord communicated with me during the reign of King Josiah, whose reign was marked by glory and devotion. This period not only highlights the timeframe but also serves as a deeper indictment against the Jewish people. Despite having a ruler who was genuinely concerned for their well-being, they did not improve. God speaks through the prophet as one would address a servant, encountering scorn from those cherished. Have you observed what the house of Israel has done to me? Although the Divine is fundamentally unaffected, it communicates as if it has been wronged and disrespected. The house of Israel refers not to a singular entity but to the entire collective. The prophet may not have perceived all this directly since it was before him, but the inquiry is more about awareness than sight.
