The grace of the Gospel affirms that these remarks genuinely reflect the words of the Lord. Indeed, as John notes, His siblings did not believe in Him (John 7:5) when they urged Him, Leave this place and go to Judea, so that your disciples may witness the miraculous works you perform. After all, no one acts in obscurity while desiring to be acknowledged. If you perform such wonders, show yourself to the world (John 7:3-4). They made these statements because they failed to recognize His divine capabilities and were more attuned to outsiders than to Him. This observation is especially true of the Jewish people, who sought their own agendas and turned away from Him when His greatness was to be acknowledged.

He has distanced my kindred from me; those who are familiar with me have truly turned away. My beloved have abandoned me, and my friends have overlooked me, as stated in Job 19:13-14.

To illustrate this more clearly, let us consider the testimony of John, who writes, He came to his own, and his own received him not (Jn. 1:11). This signifies that His kin were set apart from Him, and those who recognized Him were estranged from Him. The Jews, who diligently observed the Law through prophetic words, failed to acknowledge Him upon His arrival. Hence it is rightly expressed, My loved ones have forsaken me, and my acquaintances have forgotten me.
