Do mothers consume the fruit of their wombs? Specifically, this refers to children who perish at the hands of their mothers during periods of famine. The prophet responds with a pointed inquiry: ‘Will you slay the priest and the prophet in the temple of the Lord?’ It is likely that the Babylonians took the lives of priests and prophets within the Lord's sanctuary.
