Theodoret of Cyrus

The esteemed offspring of Zion, esteemed above gold, how will they be transformed into fragile clay vessels, crafted by the hands of the stingy? The Lord prophesied this through the prophet Isaiah, stating that they will be as ineffective as a shattered vessel of clay, broken into fragments, rendering it impossible to draw water or obtain fire from the hearth (Isaiah 30:14).
