With a firm foundation in good deeds and a resolute stand against evil, we strive to embody through our actions what we comprehend in our hearts. For it is written that Jesus both taught and acted (Acts 1:1). The breastplate is referred to as έπίθεμα, indicating ‘addition’ or ‘superiority’; this concept is further emphasized by the term 'thenupho,' which signifies an even higher state. In this context, we can interpret the words of Malachi: ‘The mouth of the priests shall preserve knowledge, and the law shall be sought from His mouth’ (Malachi 2:7). The foremost responsibility of priests is to grasp the law and doctrine profoundly, augmented by divine grace, thus shaping a person capable of correcting those whose deeds are wicked and lead to destruction.
