Alexander Gorsky
As the Lord approached, He directed His question not to His disciples but to the scribes, inquiring, "What is the dispute you are having with them?" However, it appeared they were unprepared with a response.
And he asked them: What do you question about among you?
και ευθεως πας ο οχλος ιδων αυτον εξεθαμβηθη και προστρεχοντες ησπαζοντο αυτον

As the Lord approached, He directed His question not to His disciples but to the scribes, inquiring, "What is the dispute you are having with them?" However, it appeared they were unprepared with a response.
In this moment, Jesus makes His appearance, and the crowd rushes to welcome Him. However, the father of the boy afflicted by demons, as noted in Mark 1:23, initially pleads from a distance for Jesus to notice his distressed son. Then, approaching closer and kneeling before Him, he elaborates on the misery of his child, implores Jesus for compassion, and mentions that His disciples were unable to bring healing.
"What is the reason for your dispute with them?" He questioned the scribes with firmness. The scribes, caught off guard by His unexpected arrival, were left speechless, unsure of how to respond.
"What is the subject of your discussion?" This question was posed to the scribes, who, noticeably, did not respond. They felt a sense of shame over the slanders they had propagated about the Lord and His followers. Having witnessed the authority of the Lord's words and deeds on multiple occasions, they had previously left in humiliation, which now rendered them mute. While the presence of the Lord brought joy to the people and His disciples, it caused the scribes to feel increasingly uncomfortable and disoriented. Overwhelmed by their sense of shame, embarrassment, and fear of further humiliation, they chose to remain silent. At this point, the father of the boy afflicted by the demonic spirit elucidated the situation.
