Facing the onslaught of his adversaries, Nehemiah visits the home of Shemaiah, believing he is stepping into the abode of a faithful friend and companion. To his dismay, he discovers that Shemaiah has betrayed him, aligning himself with the enemies, enticed by their rewards. The chosen ones consistently grapple with external assaults and inner anxieties, as seen in 2 Corinthians 7:5. Throughout scripture, not only the apostles but also the prophets endured dangers from their fellow believers, encountered threats from the Gentiles, and faced perils from deceitful brethren, as noted in 2 Corinthians 11:26.
