Why did the Prophet hesitate when God promised to provide meat (Num. 11:21-22)? It was because he was more than just a prophet; he was also a human being. However, he was instructed by the Lord not to waver in faith when God makes a promise. It was revealed to him, "If the hand of the Lord be not satisfied? And now thou shalt know whether My word shall befall thee, or neither" (Num. 11:23). In His promise of provision, God also included the consequence of His generosity. After stating, "Until the month ye eat meat, till it come out of your nostrils..., He added, And it shall be an abomination unto you" (Num. 11:20), or as Simmachus interprets, indigestion, for greed can lead to affliction and, for many, even to death as a divine judgment.

Therefore, the wise David proclaimed, "The wrath of God shall come upon them, and shall kill the greatest number of them" (Psalm 77:30-31). Consequently, the insightful Paul admonishes us, "Neither do ye gratify the flesh in the lusts of the flesh" (Rom. 13:14).
