Ambrose of Milan

4th centuryChurch Father

Truly worthy is the individual who stands as the leader for all to follow. When a dreadful death infiltrated the people due to disobedience, he positioned himself between the living and the dying, halting death so that humanity would no longer face destruction. He exemplifies a priestly heart and spirit, interceding for the Lord's flock with deep compassion, much like a shepherd. By doing so, he mitigated the sting of death, contained the assault, and redirected the flow. Righteousness was rewarded as he prayed for those who had turned away.

6th centuryChurch Father

If you reflect on the narrative of history, you might envision the priest positioned amidst the living and the dead.
