In determining the most fitting arrangement for divine acts, God places the Levitical system under the authority of the high priest, as stated in the book of Numbers: ‘declare to the Levites and tell them... and you shall not die.’ Do you recognize the divine order of Christ, which is represented in glimpses and symbols? For ‘he that receiveth tithes... gave tithes,’ as articulated by the blessed Paul (Hebrews 7:9). At that time, Melchisedec served as the figure, while in Moses' era, it was Aaron, symbolizing the chief of priests—Christ, the Head and Leader of the sacred tabernacle, which is the Church—the Holy of Holies, the Supreme God, to whom we are indebted for all our offerings; as it is written, ‘all that are round about Him, let them bring gifts’ (Psalms 75:12). Yet, the Mosaic law was still shrouded in symbols; now, the true guardians of the gospel commands bring joyful spiritual offerings to their Redeemer.
