Vissarion (Nechaev)
The ethical condition of those engaged in promiscuity is detrimental primarily because they fail to return to righteous paths. Lust undermines their moral fortitude, dulls their conscience, and erodes their sense of shame. Indeed, as the years pass, physical desires may diminish, and in old age, as bodily vigor wanes, indulgence may lose its allure and even cease. At that point, one might find themselves compelled to contemplate repentance. However, the grim reality is that many who indulge in promiscuity do not reach advanced age; they often experience premature death, whether from overindulgence in carnal pleasures or through violence. Consequently, they rarely have the opportunity to regain their senses.
