John Chrysostom
Through the neglected divine covenant, he summons what Christ promised in the Gospel to Adam, Noah, Abraham, and Moses, who triumphed over the adversary, a desire shared by the angels in the heavenly realm when he arrives.
And forsaketh the guide of her youth,
הַ֭עֹזֶבֶת אַלּ֣וּף נְעוּרֶ֑יהָ וְאֶת־בְּרִ֖ית אֱלֹהֶ֣יהָ שָׁכֵֽחָה׃

Do not let her who has abandoned the teachings of her early years — who has forgotten all that was imparted to her during that time — and who has lost sight of the covenant of her forefathers — overcome you. In her upbringing, like every member of God's chosen people, she was instructed in the reverence of the Lord and in His commandments, which include the law of purity and the sin of adultery. Yet she has turned away from these divine instructions, neglecting the responsibilities that come with being a daughter of the people of Israel. Whether prior to or following her marriage, she has succumbed to immorality, the dire consequences of which are illustrated in the subsequent passage (Proverbs 2:18).
