The Jews and Gentiles, deceived by the false wonders of the antichrist and having written his name indelibly in their hearts, will not allow the bodies of the saints to be buried. They will rejoice that they have escaped and been freed from the chastisements they endured for their own correction.
They do not understand that “the Lord chastens whom He loves, and scourges every son whom He receives” (Heb 12:6). But we should pray to the Lord: “It is good for us that we were afflicted, that we might learn Thy statutes” (Ps 118:71). “Restore us, O God of our salvation, and turn away Thy indignation from us” (Ps 84:5), and “enter not into judgment with Thy servants” (Ps 142:2).
For when we are judged by Thee, O Master Who lovest mankind, we are chastened, that we may not be condemned with the world (1 Cor 11:32). Through a small chastisement may we escape eternal torments, for Thou art rich in Thy mercies, O Christ our God. To Thee are due thanksgiving, glory, honor, and worship, with the Father and the Life-giving Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.
