Let us examine how the mother brought him forth; let us accompany this woman as she enters the temple. It is noted that 'she went up’ with him into Silom ... accompanied by a calf of three years old. Thus, the offering was twofold: there was a silent calf and a verbal one; the former was presented by the priest, while the latter was offered by the wife. Her offering surpassed that of the priest, as she was a priestess through her own lineage, mirroring the actions of the patriarch Abraham and engaging in a spiritual contest with him.

While he returned his son after offering him, she entrusted hers to the temple forever; indeed, it is more fitting to highlight that he honored his offering from a place of fullness, for we should focus not on what was left unblessed but on the intention behind it. Observe how the wife challenges her husband; note how nature did not hinder her from entering into this divine competition with the patriarch.

In light of these matters, as well as others that the Lord will unveil to you, and which may require greater elaboration, strive through prayer to triumph over this world. Pray with expectation, pray with conviction, pray with compassion, and approach prayer with unwavering perseverance, much like a widow who is wholly devoted to Christ. While prayer, as instructed by Him, is a responsibility for all His followers—those who have faith in Him and are part of His body—it is significant to note that Scripture places particular emphasis on the diligence of prayer among widows. There were two women honored with the name Anna. One was married and the mother of Samuel; the other was a widow who recognized the Holy One even when He was still a child.
