The Church Fathers on this verse

One Church Father comments on this verse

Theodoret of Cyrus

5th centuryChurch Father

The prophet declares, “And engage with the world, like human perception, and empower me.” He then reassures, “Do not be afraid, O seeker of desires; peace be with you. Take heart and be courageous.” This means do not be overly anxious; I am not here to bring about your downfall, but to reveal to you what you earnestly wish to understand. Therefore, set aside your fears; “Take heart and be courageous,” and his words were followed by actions. When you converse with me, the prophet asserts, “I will be invigorated, and I will respond, ‘My Lord, you have strengthened me.’”
