And from one of the horns emerged a formidable horn. The prophet refers to Antiochus Stephen, who was the offspring of Antiochus, famously known as Antiochus the Great. He gained prominence to the south, east, and west, achieving great influence. As the prophet states, he grew powerful and defeated the king of Egypt, subduing the nations that resided in the east; he also triumphed over the Jewish people and claimed the sacred city. The prophet designated it as 'the power' due to the grace of God that was richly bestowed in the temple during that time. To clarify this point, he further stated:
