John Chrysostom

4th centuryChurch Father

Who could be more righteous than Paul? Yet, when he sought unhelpful requests, he received no answer: ‘for this,’ he states, ‘I entreated the Lord three times, but He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you”’ (2 Cor. 12:8, 9). Who is more righteous than Moses? Yet he too was denied, as the Lord responded: ‘full of thee’; he earnestly requested to enter the promised land, but his pleas were in vain, and therefore God did not grant him entry.
