Ambrose of Milan

4th centuryChurch Father

The Scriptures proclaim: Hear, O Israel, the Lord your God. It does not command you to speak to Him, but rather, to listen. Eve fell into transgression because she conveyed to her husband what she had not heard from the Lord her God (See Gen. 3:11-17). Thus, the initial command from the voice of God to you is: Hear.

Vissarion (Nechaev)

19th centuryCommentator

When you follow the Lord in every aspect, He will bestow His blessings upon your family, financial and social affairs, and increase your numbers in the presence of your adversaries.
