Who could the two eunuchs, tasked with guarding the entrance to the royal palace, symbolize if not the Jewish scribes and Pharisees? It was remarked that while they possessed the key to wisdom, they themselves did not enter the kingdom and prevented others from doing so as well. Driven by envy of the Savior's teachings and virtues, they conspired against Him, seeking to eliminate Him. They covertly conspired with Roman authorities to devise a plan for His destruction. The Gospel recounts that the Pharisees conferred to entrap Him in His words.

They sent their disciples, accompanied by the Herodians, to pose a question: “Teacher, we know that You are just and teach the way of God in truth, and do not concern Yourself with appearances; therefore, tell us: Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar or not?” (Matthew 22:15-17). Additionally, we read that the chief priests and Pharisees convened a council, exclaiming, “What shall we do? This Man performs many signs. If we allow Him to continue, all will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take away our place and nation” (John 11:47-48). Shortly thereafter, it is recorded that they resolved from that day forward to put Him to death (John 11:53).
