Terror grips the Israelites when they behold the radiant countenance of Moses. He beckons them to approach and shares the words of the Lord, then veils his face again as he returns to the presence of the Lord. In 2 Corinthians 3, St. Paul reflects on this and emphasizes that the veil remains upon the hearts of Israel, only to be lifted when they turn to the Lord.
