The term "sons of Kedemli" is interpreted by various scholars as "sons of the east." They are descendants of Ishmael. Consequently, the Almighty God, speaking through the prophet, addresses the offspring of Ammon: ‘Because you rejoiced at the sight of my temple being desecrated by impure and wicked individuals, the land of Israel laid waste, and the tribe of Judah taken into exile, I will subject you to a nation that is far weaker and less powerful than the Babylonians. This nation will bring upon you numerous hardships, establishing their own stores within your cities, tending herds of camels across your land, and forcing you to become shepherds of sheep. Therefore, when these events come to pass, you will understand that it is not due to my inability, but rather because of their wrongdoing, that my people have endured the trials they have faced.
