Theodoret of Cyrus

For this reason, behold, I will extend my hand against you, and I will lay waste to you with my speech, consuming you among the peoples, and bringing ruin upon you from the nations, rendering you as I am Adonai the Lord. Because you have rejoiced and exulted over the misfortunes of my people, applauding, celebrating, and stamping your feet, you will face severe calamities in return, and you will truly understand my sovereignty. Following this, God directs the prophecy toward Moab, the brother and neighbor of Ammon.
