The love of God is beyond expression! He metes out punishment with measured justice, yet He also provides healing for the suffering. His declaration is clear: I will kill, and I will make alive; I will strike, and I will heal (Deuteronomy 32:39). In this context, He warns the Egyptians of impending captivity, scattering, and devastation; however, He restricts this devastation to a limited duration. He states that for forty years, Egypt will be unpassable, but this applies only to areas from Magdol and Sina to the borders of Ethiopia; and immediately following this, He assures a restoration. For He asserts:
