One Church Father comments on this verse

Theodoret of Cyrus

5th centuryChurch Father

I will surrender Egypt to the most savage of nations, the Babylonians, ensuring that the entire region is consumed by violence and the rivers become barren following the devastation of its people. It is declared that I will place the land into the hands of the wicked rather than forsaking it. This aligns with the earlier proclamation that I will deliver the Egyptians to Nebuchadnezzar as a recompense for the efforts he exerted during the siege of Tyre. Subsequently, God predicts that the abominations of Egypt—those idols steeped in defilement—shall be shattered by their foes.
