As she attended to the domestic tasks, she lunged at the young man like a savage beast, gripping him by his clothing and pinning him down. It is important that we acknowledge this event and reflect on the challenge that the upright man faced. It seems to me that it is less remarkable for the three young men within the Babylonian furnace to emerge unscathed and untouched by the flames than it is for this extraordinary young man to resist the advances of a dishonorable and unyielding woman. Though she seized him by his garments, he did not yield; instead, he fled, leaving his clothes behind.

Just as those three youths were granted divine assistance for their virtue and emerged triumphant over the fire, this young man, through his determined efforts and steadfastness in the pursuit of purity, received significant aid from above. With God's mighty right hand supporting him, he achieved victory and evaded the snares of the licentious woman. It was evident afterward that the remarkable young man left his garments behind, yet he was adorned with the robe of chastity. He escaped as if fleeing from flames, without sustaining any harm, and rather than being scorched, he emerged even more pure and radiant.

Eventually, she devised a plan to brazenly entice him into an immoral action, waiting for the moment when, similar to a furious serpent, she would unleash upon him all the venom of wickedness...

Joseph's actions are justified by the witness of Scripture, as he could not abandon the responsibilities entrusted to him by his master. It was insufficient for him to simply retreat into the confines of his home, acting as if he were beyond temptation; a righteous man must actively ensure that the aggressive woman has no opportunity for wrongdoing, lest she face destruction due to his transgression. However, recognizing that his adversary was his master's wife, he must have felt a deep dread of disappointing his lord by neglecting his duty. Even so, he maintained the belief that her disrespect was verbal rather than physical. He had a valid reason for his entry and deserves commendation for fleeing, placing the integrity of his spirit above the fleeting desires of the flesh.

On a certain day, Joseph was carrying out his responsibilities in the household, and it so happened that only the mistress was present, with no other members of the household around.
