Clement of Rome
When Moses observed the people thriving, he began to teach them about the importance of unity and faith in the one true God. He reminds them, "Thou shalt not remember the name of strange gods," recalling the punishment of the serpent who was the first to mention other gods (See Genesis 3:5). This serpent was condemned to eat dust, a fitting consequence for the mouth that first spoke of deities. Thus, if you too choose to worship many gods, consider how you might end up facing a fate akin to that of the serpent.
