The Church Fathers on this verse

One Church Father comments on this verse

Theodoret of Cyrus

5th centuryChurch Father

He remarked that 'another generation arose after these, and knew not the Lord, nor the works that were done in Israel,' and that the Israelites, cohabiting with the Canaanites, Theresaes, and various outsiders, formed marital bonds with them. Through these unions, they became entangled in their sinful practices, for 'they served Baal and the Astartes.'
