One Church Father comments on this verse

Theodoret of Cyrus

5th centuryChurch Father

"Increase the daughters of Judah in a state of humility and lowliness. As depicted by Hystorgue, like ’the grapes of His village’; for the adversaries had set ablaze the temple of the Lord. They scattered His celebration, for there were no longer joyful gatherings; instead, they were forced to mourn. The Lord caused Zion to forget both the festivals and the Sabbath. Furthermore, He contributed to the ruin of kings and priests, the devastation of the temple, the defilement of the altar, the destruction of the city walls, and, most sorrowfully of all."
