Why is it that a lifeless body does not render seed defiled when it falls on dry seed, yet it does make moist seed unclean (Lev. 11:37, 38)? This is because the moisture enhances the seed’s capacity to absorb impurities.
If it fall upon seed corn, it shall not defile it.
וְכִ֤י יִפֹּל֙ מִנִּבְלָתָ֔ם עַל־כָּל־זֶ֥רַע זֵר֖וּעַ אֲשֶׁ֣ר יִזָּרֵ֑עַ טָה֖וֹר הֽוּא׃
