In an effort to elevate our thoughts towards spiritual truths and prevent us from becoming ensnared by the weaknesses of the flesh—seen as a reflection of the deficiencies within our own souls—the scripture clearly instructs: ‘So keep the children of Israel from their uncleanness, lest they die in their uncleanness, defiling My dwelling which is among them.’ It is only after we have been cleansed and made holy through Christ that we can truly stand in the light, ensuring that we do not contaminate the sacred tabernacle. Rather, as we approach the churches in a state of purity and sanctity, we can offer our worship to the most holy God.

There are various forms of disrespect: one can exhibit it in speech, gestures, and expressions. From this arrogance arises frivolous chatter, discussions of worldly matters, inappropriate behavior, and actions that provoke laughter in an indecorous manner. Disrespect manifests in various ways, such as when a person touches another inappropriately, extends their hand out in jest, pushes someone, snatches objects away, or gazes at someone with unabated boldness. All these behaviors stem from a lack of reverence for God within the soul, leading ultimately to a state of negligence.

Thus, when God delivered the commandments of the law, He instructed, "Be reverent, ye children of Israel; for without reverence and modesty, a person cannot honor God nor observe any of the commandments." Consequently, nothing is more detrimental than this audacity, which serves as the root of all passions, expelling reverence and the fear of God from the heart and resulting in carelessness.
