Then the sacrament's significance is further elucidated, stating that if a priest’s daughter engages in immorality, she dishonors her father and must face a fiery punishment. The Jewish community, adhering to the doctrines of the scribes and Pharisees, forsaking true understanding for human commandments, was similarly regarded as unclean and was condemned to the flames. Thus, the prophet lamented, "How the faithful city has become a harlot!" Having compromised her fidelity and disregarded her exalted and spiritual Bridegroom, she became fodder for fire. The prophet Jeremiah expressed deep sorrow, remarking, "The Lord called you a green olive tree, bearing fruit in splendor. But now, amidst great turmoil, He has set ablaze around it, and its branches have been shattered. The Lord of hosts, who planted you, has pronounced evil against you." Therefore, the essence of spiritual fornication lies in straying from sound thinking and aligning oneself with shameful and wicked teachers. This I affirm.
