John Chrysostom

The Feast of Tabernacles served as a representation of the heavenly dwellings. This is why the Lord, in His desire to illustrate that these temporary tabernacles symbolize the everlasting ones to come, instructed the wealthy of this world, ‘Make friends for yourselves with unrighteous riches, that when you are poor, they may receive you into eternal dwellings’ (Luke 16:9). Thus, the earthly tabernacles reflected the eternal ones. The message of the serpent was lifted upon the cross as spoken by Moses in the wilderness, along with the essence of the divine Trinity.
