The Church Fathers on this verse

One Church Father comments on this verse

Vissarion (Nechaev)

19th centuryCommentator

I will establish My covenant within you. The nature of this covenant, or its stipulations, becomes clear in the following verse. And My soul shall not reject you. The ideal residence of the Lord resides among the assembly of holy angels, who faithfully carry out His commands. However, He will not turn away from those humans who, despite their shortcomings and sins, strive to remain steadfast in their devotion to Him and His commandments. They hold dear their covenant with Him, even as they struggle to meet its personal obligations.
