Those who oppose the Church and the heretical are troubled when they witness the faithful striving for the sake of the universal faith and the restoration of moral values, enabling the rebuilding of the Church’s foundations. It is important to discern the contrasting attitudes and actions of the past with those of the present. It has been noted that those who remained in Judea following the exile faced significant distress and humiliation (Nehemiah 1:3), and Nehemiah himself devoted a prolonged period to fasting, weeping, and praying, lamenting the destruction of Jerusalem’s wall and the burning of its gates (Nehemiah 1:3).

In stark contrast, today the adversaries of this sacred city experience vexation and chaos, realizing that the city’s structures will be restored and its dwellers liberated from hostile assaults.

Therefore, it is critical to recognize that even in this earthly life, the prophecy of the Lord can be actualized: Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye shall mourn and weep, and the world shall rejoice; ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be for joy (John 16:20). When the world, which once celebrated, begins to mourn, the grief of the righteous will transform into joy. It will then be evident that the holy Church is flourishing in her deeds, and that those who have strayed from her will return in heartfelt repentance.
