Nestor the Chronicler

12th centuryChurch Father

Vladimir inquired, "Where is your homeland?" To which they replied, "In Jerusalem." He then asked, "Is that truly so?" They explained, "God became displeased with our ancestors and dispersed us across various nations due to our transgressions, granting our land to the Christians." Vladimir responded, "How can you instruct others while you yourselves face rejection from God and are scattered? If the Lord cherished you and your commandments, you would not be exiled in foreign territories. Or do you desire the same fate for us?"
