Reflect on how much you provoked the Lord your God during your time in the wilderness. This reminder is for our edification, my children, as we have spent a considerable time in Egypt, symbolizing our bondage to sin, which we willingly embraced. Let us strive to enter the promised land and, once we do, remember our past enslavement so that we do not become ungrateful towards God. It is not only Moses who cautions us in this way; other prophets also urge us to keep our transgressions in mind, even those that God has forgiven and forgotten, so that we may always approach Him with humility, like individuals burdened with debts to their creditors.
