There is another remarkable aspect to the narrative of this provision. Just as one of the days in the seventh week was kept as a day of rest according to some divine decree, the day before it saw the gathering of food occur as usual. The effort put forth by those collecting was consistent, yet the yield was double the expected amount, ensuring that there was no justification for violating the mandate of resting due to the necessity for sustenance.

In verse 18, we see that the Israelites, after collecting the manna, weighed it in their tents and discovered they had gathered just enough for their daily sustenance. On the sixth day, upon gathering the manna once more, they were astonished to find that they had gathered double the amount. After being reprimanded for allowing the manna to remain until morning, the Israelites approached Moses to inquire about what actions they should take.
